CEPL Conference 2015: The Ethics of Ferguson

2015 Banner

“This conference was informative, emotional, and well-attended. No one in the audience could have listened without better understanding the standpoints of key figures in the Ferguson protests, or come away without a better grasp of what it will take for our region to move forward.”  —  Conference Attendee

This conference was designed not to re-litigate the past, but to draw lessons for the future of our diverse community from an objective and informed conversation that respects both the protester’s rights and grievances and the difficult job the police and prosecutors are asked to do every day.  The conference comprised of three panels of experts and a keynote speech by Dr. Bernice A. King.

THE FUNDAMENTAL ETHICAL QUESTION OF POLITICS

“How do we ethically protect the social cooperation that makes our society cohesive and strong, while also respecting the rights of individuals to pursue vastly divergent visions of the good life, and deeply conflicting moral and political beliefs?”
