Welcome

Welcome to the Center for Ethics in Public Life, a new initiative established at the University of Missouri-St. Louis with the aim of promoting greater integrity in the conduct of public officials. The Center is one of only a very few university-based programs across the country dedicated to the particularly challenging ethical issues that confront public officials at the state and local levels. Through its planned program of instruction, training and research, the Center hopes to strengthen public confidence and trust in government and to support appointed and elected officials in pursuing careers that are distinguished by honesty and integrity.

In October 2011 the Center welcomed its first permanent Director, Dr. Wally Siewert. Dr. Siewert’s mission is to make the vision outlined by the founders of the Center a reality and constitute the Center as a force for ethical progress in the Missouri body politic. The Center welcomes the collaboration and input of government officials, civic organizations and concerned citizens interested in promoting ethical excellence in the public service professions.
